Art Gallery of South Australia
Join a gathering of creative minds as 24 Australian artists and poets explore the human condition through their works and words. Curator José Da Silva describes Inner Sanctum as “a snapshot of contemporary Australia that is reflective and hopeful”.
Botanic Park
For 30 years WOMADelaide has been a high point on the state’s festival calendar, showcasing an eclectic mix of music, arts and dance from around the world. This year, get your groove on to the beats of Senegalese superstar Baaba Maal, the trip-hop stylings of England’s Morcheeba and the reggae offbeats of Ziggy Marley. These acts will play alongside a galaxy of other local and international performers.
Lucindale
The population of this tiny town in the south-east swells to more than 20,000 as 500-plus exhibitors turn up to showcase their wares. Along with agricultural equipment and produce displays, there are yard-dog competitions, live music, adorable baby farm animals, laser tag, the mud-drenched stunts of ATV off-road racers, and all the refreshments you’d expect at a country fair.
Victoria Park, Adelaide
V8 Supercars, motorcycles, classics, former F1 cars, Bathurst racers, and much more will feature in this three-day motoring bonanza. Catch on-track action and static displays, and there are plenty of activities to keep the kids entertained, like radio-controlled cars, Scalextric racing and simulators.
Christies Beach
The culmination of the competitive surf lifesaving season sees participants from around the state compete for medals in a range of events. Rowers grind it out in heavy surf boats, ski paddlers skip across waves at breakneck speed and beach sprinters kick up the sand in a dash for the winning line. Enjoy three days of sun, surf, colour and spectacle.
Adelaide Oval, Norwood Oval, Mount Barker
Following the overwhelming success of last year’s Gather Round, 18 AFL teams will once again battle it out for premiership points in Adelaide and the Hills. As well as the Crows and Power, see the Sydney Swans take on the West Coast Eagles at Mount Barker, Richmond play St Kilda at Norwood Oval, and Collingwood battle Hawthorn at Adelaide Oval.
Kadina, Moonta and Wallaroo
Mature-age athletes from around the state converge on the Copper Coast to compete in a broad range of sports, including archery, cricket, and croquet, as well as dragon boat racing, equestrian and radio-control boats. Turn up to cheer them on, and perhaps grab a delicious Cornish pasty while you’re in the region.

Clear your calendar and taste buds for 10 days of decadence when Australia’s premier eating and drinking festival, Tasting Australia presented by RAA Travel, rolls into town. Chefs from around the world turn up to delight the palate, while winemakers, distillers and brewers ensure guests have just the right drop to complement every meal.
Clare Valley
Head to Clare for a celebration of food, music and wine. Indulge in gourmet events, masterclasses, tastings, and paddock-to-plate experiences in one of the state’s most scenic locations. Leave your car keys in your room and scoot about the region aboard a shuttle bus, available throughout the festival.
