A DAY IN....
Burra
Picturesquely located in the valley of its namesake creek, Burra was once home to the largest metal mine in Australia.
Words: John Pedler

Burra's copper resources helped bolster South Australia’s flagging economy in the mid-1800s, and boosted the country’s mining industry.
A playground for history buffs, the town is one of the best-preserved examples of a 19th century mining town and has been placed on the National Heritage List.
