While it’s more than 20 years since I got my learner's permit, I can still clearly remember sitting the test.
Feeling a mixture of excitement and nervousness, I caught the bus down to Marion and walked over to the old Motor Reg building where I sat the test. Much to my relief I passed, only getting a couple of road-rule questions wrong.

Picture-perfect Murphy's Haystacks
I just received the latest sa move magazine and as I unwrapped it, something looked really familiar. My mum (Moira McClaren) painted this piece of artwork of Murphy's Haystacks. Dad and her were RAA members for more than 60 years. The painting sits behind my bed so I get to look at it every day.

A bit of courtesy
I would like to draw large-vehicle drivers’ attention to an issue of courtesy which could be easily addressed. When trying to turn left onto a busy road, often there’s a large vehicle adjacent wanting to turn right.
The larger vehicle obscures the view to the right of the left-turning vehicle preventing that driver from completing the left turn when there are plenty of opportunities to do so. If the large vehicle waits a metre or so back, the driver will still have a good view and at the same time, the smaller left-turning vehicle can take advantage of a break in the traffic.

Trev look-a-like?
Look at sa move Editor Jeremy’s byline pic below his Editor’s note, then look at page 72 of the summer edition of sa move (inset) and check Trev’s facial expression in that image. The resemblance is more than passing, hey? Is it a secret, known only to a few, that Jeremy’s face was, in fact, the model for the creation of Trev’s outgoing, fun human persona?
