Northern Adelaide Senior College students will benefit from a new driver's education program.
A safer regional South Australia
Solar-powered road safety signs on the Yorke Peninsula and free first-aid courses for Murray Bridge parents are just a couple of the safety projects that'll be made possible thanks to RAA Regional Safety Grants.
Last year, 21 community organisations received a share in more than $125,000 in the latest round of funding to improve the safety and security of South Australia's regional areas and communities.
RAA's Regional Safety Grants funding pool was boosted by an additional $50,000 as part of RAA's new Community Impact Fund, announced late last year.
Elizabeth's Northern Adelaide Senior College (NASC) is among the successful recipients. The college is set to receive $10,000 for a driver's education program, delivered by RAA Drive School, to support regional students' transition into employment.
Among 97 NASC students surveyed (aged 17 to 45), only seven have their full licence and 10 hold a provisional licence.
The remaining students surveyed either didn't have a car or a reliable adult to take them driving to accumulate the required hours, suffered from financial hardship, or experienced anxiety about driving.
"The main barrier to accessing employment opportunities identified through research conducted at NASC is having reliable transportation," says NASC educator, Andrea Williams.
"This [driver's education] program will benefit the local community by providing students greater engagement in employment and career opportunities," she says.

Chair's message
There's something special about a room filled with members who care deeply about RAA's future – and that's exactly what we experienced at our recent Annual General Meeting.
The turnout was record breaking, with almost 200 members joining us online and in person. But more importantly, the engagement was extraordinary. Members asked thoughtful questions, challenged us on our decisions and contributed meaningfully to discussions about where we're heading as an organisation.
That level of participation is important because the Board exists to serve you. When you show up to have your say, it reinforces that we're making decisions that reflect what truly matters.
Having so many voices in the room – questioning, supporting, challenging – gives us confidence we're on the right track. It's a reminder that our strength comes from the collective voice of more than 834,000 members who trust us to represent their interests.
Beyond the AGM, we travel around the state, to hear from our members through events, regional roadshows and road assessments, our shops, community partners and grassroots giving. We know what's important to you.
So this year, we're putting infrastructure, planning and liveability front and centre at the State Election. We're rolling out new member benefits and expanding our community investment. And we're doing it all with your voice guiding us.
As Chair, I'm proud to lead a Board that listens, learns and acts in your interests. And I'm grateful to serve an organisation where members show up, speak up and hold us to the highest standards.

Kathy Gramp
RAA Chair of the Board

A century of peace of mind
Buying a new or used car? Do you have a warranty that's about to expire or want to keep your vehicle in tip-top condition?
Established in 1925, last year RAA Vehicle Inspections celebrated 100 years of giving vehicles in South Australia the tick of approval.
In fact, the team has completed more than half a million inspections over the century, helping the South Australian motoring community buy smarter cars, drive safer, and protect their investments.
RAA's comprehensive pre-purchase, safety and warranty inspections are carried out by experienced professionals, giving motorists clear, reliable advice they can trust before buying or selling.
RAA General Manager of Automotive Services Dorothy Nycz says RAA is a trusted name in independent vehicle inspections.
"We not only celebrate a century of expertise, but continue to set the standard in vehicle inspections, delivering peace of mind today and confidence for the next 100 years," Dorothy says.
Fun fact: Did you know RAA Vehicle Inspections' free headlight aiming service for members was first offered in 1925 and is still free today?

Our loyal members
Barbara Keenihan has been an RAA member ever since she got behind the timber steering wheel of her father's bright green automobile at the age of 18.
Barbara, who turns 99 on 25 February, joined RAA in 1959 and even though she's never needed to call on RAA for assistance, she's remained a loyal member until surrendering her driver's licence in 2000.
As a thank you to Barbara, and other long-time RAA members, RAA has launched a Lifetime Loyalty Membership.
The non-motoring membership is for our most loyal customers who've been with us for 25 years or more and meet certain criteria, including no longer driving due to age, personal circumstances, or other life changes.
